'The Whale Rider by Witi Ihimaera' to Tim Bray Productions - Auckland's leading theatre for children - presents The Whale Rider by Witi Ihimaera

Kahu is destined to become leader of her tribe and no matter how hard she tries to show her worth, her grandfather won’t accept that a girl can take over his role as chief. However, things change when Kahu rescues the ancient whale beached in the Whangara Harbour.

“The kids were enthralled. The girls were empowered and the boys were moved. A beautifully generous offering to the intelligence and soul of our children!”  -  Tamati Patuwai from Mad Ave Studios as Kaitakawaenga – Maori Advisor to The Whale Rider.

Children from 4 years and adults are loving this show. Based on the beautiful children's picture book by Witi Ihimaera, this is a magical, intelligent and highly creative offering that speaks richly to children. It will be a special memory that will stay with them for a long time to come.

The Whale Rider has received rave reviews from media and audience members alike.

Don't miss out on this world-class theatrical treat - funny, engaging, clever and gentle.
