New big screen for Whangārei's Semenoff Stadium

A brand new 46m2 big screen has arrived in the country and is heading to Northland’s Semenoff Stadium where it will be used for sporting, music and community events.

Sports fans will be able to enjoy watching replays on the big screen not only at the large sporting events where a screen was hired in the past, but also at community events and the Bunnings Warehouse NPC which kicks off in August.

“At last Northland will be getting the big screen it deserves, at our stadium, thanks to Whangārei winning the rights to co-host the Rugby World Cup New Zealand 2021 (Playing in 2022). It’s also fitting that the first event is a community event where everyone can come together to attend Matariki Pahū Ahi – Fireworks Display and Movie Night on 3 July,” said council’s Venues and Events Manager Carina de Graaf.

“You can get tickets for this event from Eventfinda, Adults $10 and children 14 years and under will be free and must be accompanied by an adult.”

The screen will be supplied by Monstavision, an experienced supplier who has installed screens in many stadiums throughout New Zealand.

Local Contractor Culham Engineering will build and install the structure which will house the 46m2 screen (4.8m high x 9.6m wide) Daktronics, 10mm Pixel Pitch Screen clad in colour steel.

Installation commenced on 17 May 2021 and will be completed by early June 2021.
