Fritter Festival - Fresh Challenge for Northland Chefs

Get ready for a trip down memory lane at this year's Fritter Festival as we challenge Northland chefs to dust off their tried and true fritter recipes.

It's back to basics on Saturday 28 March for Fritter 2020, celebrating where we come from, who we are, and of course, what we love to eat!

Carina de Graaf, Manager of Venues and Events, is challenging Northland chefs to put forward their best traditional fritter recipe.

"I'm very excited by this theme, it's as much about the fritter as it is about showing respect to tradition and whanau, bringing the festival back to its roots. Kiwis are great fritter-lovers, so it's important for us to remember how all of this started. I challenge our local chefs to take us back to the moment we tasted our first fritter, using their own life experience as inspiration and presenting a piece of their heritage.

Fritter 2020 is about paying homage to the iconic kiwi fritter, showcasing the flavours of our District, and bringing back those memorable kiwi classics.

There are two prestigious awards with cash prizes up for grabs, the Pak'nSave People's Choice award and the Best Fritter voted by the celebrity chef."

With a line up of live music including headline act Katchafire, White Chapel Jak, ManaLion, RSB, Tempist Fujit, Caged and Neopolitan, tickets have already started flying out the door.

The event runs from 11:00am to 7:00pm on Saturday 28 March, at Semenoff Stadium.

Tickets can be purchased online from Eventfinda or at The Hub at the Town Basin in Whangārei.

Early bird tickets are available until 31 January, so get in quick to take advantage of the cheaper price!
